Kyle Seager is out and Shawn O’Malley is in at third base for the Mariners today in their series finale against the Yankees.
Manager Scott Servais told “Brock and Salk” this morning that Seager is getting the day off after fouling a ball off his foot last night. That means O’Malley will take over at third base, which will be the sixth position the utility man has played this season. He’ll hit seventh.
Norichika Aoki will lead off for the Mariners against Yankees right-hander Masahiro Tanaka. He’ll be opposed by Seattle’s Hisashi Iwakuma in a matchup of Japanese countrymen and one-time teammates. Here’s more on that.
First pitch is at 12:40 on 710 ESPN Seattle.
