The Mariners will start left-handed-hitting first baseman Adam Lind against Yankees southpaw CC Sabathia on Tuesday after optioning backup first baseman Stefen Romero to Triple-A. Lind has just 35 at-bats against lefties this year compared to 288 vs. right-handed pitchers.
Also in the lineup, the Mariners will lead off with left fielder Guillermo Heredia and have Franklin Gutierrez in right field and hitting second.
Taijuan Walker will be on the mound in his return to Seattle from a two-start stint in Tacoma. The game begins at 7:10 on 710 ESPN Seattle, with the pregame show set for 6.
