Video: Mariners’ Shawn O’Malley jumps into stands to catch foul ball

Aug 23, 2016, 8:45 AM | Updated: 10:34 am

Shawn O’Malley made one of the most impressive defensive plays of the Mariners’ season Monday night when, in the seventh inning of Seattle’s 7-5 win over the Yankees, he jumped into the stands along the first-base line to catch a foul ball.

Check it out in the video above.

As Shannon Drayer wrote about last week, O’Malley has been contributing more of late as manager Scott Servais has given him regular playing time. O’Malley replaced Seth Smith in right field in the seventh inning Monday night and promptly made his sensational catch. He drew a walk in his only plate appearance.
