RENTON – It will likely be at least another week until right tackle J’Marcus Webb returns from the knee injury that sidelined him for the Seahawks’ preseason opener, coach Pete Carroll said Monday.
That means Garry Gilliam’s move to left tackle is still on hold as he’ll remain on the right side in Webb’s absence.
Webb left a practice last week with what Carroll called a “twisted knee” and has yet to return. Asked if that’s still what’s keeping Webb out or if the team is awaiting test results to determine if it’s something more serious, Carroll said: “We have results on it; we’ve just got to see how he can come back. We’re just waiting for him to come back.”

Carroll didn’t offer any specifics as to when that may be other than acknowledging that it’s unlikely Webb will be back this week given the short turnaround with another preseason game Thursday night.
“We don’t have a timeline on J’Marcus right now so we’re going to stay where we are for a bit until we know more about him,” Carroll said.
And so the Seahawks will proceed with Gilliam at right tackle and Bradley Sowell at left tackle, which is the pairing they went with once Webb went down last week and stuck with for their preseason opener on Saturday. Those two will in all likelihood be the starting tackles Thursday night against Minnesota, and the longer Webb remains out, the more likely it becomes that they’ll remain as such heading into the regular season.
Here are some additional personnel notes from Monday:
• Rookie running backs C.J. Prosise and Zac Brooks returned to practice after missing most of the first two weeks of training camp with hamstring injuries. Additionally, Thomas Rawls took part in team drills after being limited last week in his return to practice from offseason ankle surgery.
• Carroll said the groin injuries that have sidelined strong safety Kam Chancellor and defensive tackle Jordan Hill will likely keep them from returning this week. He described Hill as being closer than Chancellor to getting back.
• Carroll shared a somewhat interesting update on linebacker Mike Morgan, saying he was absent Monday because he was seeing a doctor in Philadelphia about an issue with his groin. As ominous as that sounds, Carroll said Morgan is OK and that he’s expected to play Thursday. Carroll’s full quote: “He was seeing a doctor in Philadelphia today. He’s just getting a workup done on a groin thing that he’s got. He’s OK, he’s going to play on Thursday, but this was the best time to send him out there to get some information that we need.”
• Carroll said defensive tackle Sealver Siliga will remain out indefinitely after aggravating a different area in his previously injured calf. He said it could be a couple days or a couple of weeks before Siliga returns and that he’ll face an uphill battle once he does. Carroll: “It’s been a really debilitating injury for him. It’s just really hurt his chances of breaking in and helping us and all that. It’s going to be a really hard comeback for him once he gets back to us.”
• Carroll said the Seahawks have yet to determine if cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste needs surgery after injuring his shoulder in Saturday’s game. Carroll called it a labrum issue.
