Defensive end Chris Clemons has reportedly told the Seahawks that he intends to retire.
That report came from the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo on Thursday, a day before Seahawks players are due to report for the start of training camp.
Clemons spent four seasons with the Seahawks, recording 38 sacks. He spent two seasons with Jacksonville and re-signed with Seattle over the offseason on a one-year, low-cost deal.
The defensive end’s age – he turns 35 in October – his waning production the last two seasons, and the details of his contract suggested that he wasn’t a lock to make the Seahawks’ roster, especially given the depth along Seattle’s defensive line.
