Four might be Seth Smith’s new lucky number.
The Mariners’ right fielder hit is fourth home run in four games on Sunday afternoon, driving in the team’s first four runs with a grand slam. The dinger led to Seattle’s 9-4 win Seattle’s 9-4 win and the team’s first four-game sweep of the Orioles since 2012. It was the first grand slam of the 33-year-old’s career.
Smith’s 10th homer of the season came in the bottom of the third inning off Baltimore starter Ubaldo Jimenez.
Smith is the 11th Mariner to homer in four straight games, the last being Franklin Gutierrez in September of 2015. Over his last 13 games, Smith is hitting .386 (17 for 44) with 12 RBI’s and six runs scored.
