The Mariners will give the struggling Nelson Cruz the day off and Dae-Ho Lee a rare start against a right-handed pitcher on Wednesday in the third game of their four-game set in Detroit.
Cruz is 2 for 21 over his last five games.
With Lee at first base and Cruz on the bench, Seattle is starting Adam Lind at designated hitter. The pitching matchup is Hisashi Iwakuma vs. Michael Fulmer for the Tigers.
The M’s will attempt to snap a four-game losing streak and keep their record above .500 in the 4:08 contest, which will be live on 710 ESPN Seattle. The pregame show starts at 3.
