The Mariners have Franklin Gutierrez and Seth Smith manning the corner outfield spots with Leonys Martin back in his customary center field, giving Norichika Aoki a day off in their series opener against the first-place Texas Rangers.
Texas’ lineup looks quite different than in recent years thanks to the influx of young stars Jurickson Profar, Nomar Mazara and Rougned Odor, an injury to third baseman Adrian Beltre, and struggling DH Prince Fielder hitting all the way down in the sixth spot.
First pitch is 7:10 on 710 ESPN Seattle, with the pregame show starting at 6.
