SAN DIEGO – Wednesday night I had the additional duties of hosting the Mariners pre and postgame show. I was able to grab a great and familiar guest mid-game when the team was down 14-4. I recorded a segment with former Mariners pitcher Ryan Rowland-Smith, who was helping out on the ROOT Sports telecast. Who better to talk to about what we were seeing with fellow lefty James Paxton.
Rowland-Smith shared his observations on what we saw from Paxton and broke down the major change Paxton has recently made with his pitching mechanics. Rowland-Smith also talked a little bit about the injury to Felix Hernandez and the perhaps surprising offense we have seen from this team. He tells us who he thinks the biggest acquisition by the Mariners and shares a very odd connection he has to Felix being placed on the disabled list.
Always good to hear from the Aussie.
