It may be a good thing that the Seahawks reportedly came to terms with tight end Gerald Everett earlier this week as they are reportedly losing tight end Jacob Hollister in free agency.

According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, Hollister is signing with the Buffalo Bills on a one-year deal. It’s worth noting that Hollister played college ball at Wyoming, where he was teammates with Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Allen emerged as an MVP contender as the Bills went 13-3 and made it to the AFC Championship Game, where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Hollister entered the NFL in 2017 as an undrafted free agent and joined the New England Patriots. He appeared in 23 games combined between 2017 and 2018 with New England, where he recorded eight catches for 94 yards.

Ahead of the 2019 season, the Patriots traded Hollister to Seattle for a late-round draft pick. He was waived and re-signed to the Seahawks’ practice squad, where he remained until he was activated for Week 6.

In 2019, Hollister was one of quarterback Russell Wilson’s top targets, catching 51 passes for 349 yards and three touchdowns. He notably caught the game-winning touchdown in overtime against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and later caught a fourth-down pass in Week 17 against the San Francisco 49ers, but he was stopped just short of the goal line and the Seahawks lost the game and the 49ers clinched the NFC West title.

In 2020 with Greg Olsen on the roster and Will Dissly healthy, Hollister caught 25 passes for 209 yards and three scores.

Now, the Seahawks will have four tight ends on the roster in Everett, Dissly, 2020 fourth-round pick Colby Parkinson and 2020 undrafted rookie Tyler Mabry, who was on Seattle’s practice squad last season.
