As a team, the Mariners did not hit the ball like they’d wanted during a three-game sweep at the hands of the last-place Twins. But second baseman Robinson Cano continued his torrid home run pace with a solo shot in the first inning Sunday.
It was Cano’s 15th four-bagger of the season, which is tied for the league lead with Baltimore’s Mark Trumbo, White Sox infielder Todd Frazier and Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes. Cano is currently on pace to slug more than 45 home runs for the season.
On top of the 15 dingers, Cano is batting .297 with 44 RBIs for the season. He has also reached base safely in 27 consecutive games, batting .345 during that streak.
