The Seahawks went defense again with their second-round pick, drafting linebacker Bobby Wagner from Utah State after moving back four spots to No. 47.

Wagner’s addition addresses one of the Seahawks’ remaining holes. The Seahawks said Wagner will begin at middle linebacker, though he has the ability to play outside as well.

Wagner, listed at 6-foot-1 and 232 pounds, had 147 tackles as a senior in 2011, earning an All-Western Athletic Conference first-team selection for the third straight season. He was the most outstanding player for the North squad at the Senior Bowl.

Along with his versatility, the Seahawks said they were impressed with Wagner’s speed and athleticism, something they were looking to add at linebacker. Wagner said he ran the 40-yard dash in either 4.46 or 4.47 seconds at his pro day workout.

“The kid can run like the wind,” said Eric Stokes, the Seahawks’ assistant director of college scouting.

Seattle sent the 43rd overall pick to the Jets in exchange for pick Nos. 47, 154 and 232. The Seahawks have eight selections remaining: one in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth, two in the sixth and two in the seventh.
