The San Francisco 49ers went 13-3 last season, winning the NFC West by a five-game margin.
What will it take to overtake them as the division’s top team?
Peter King of Sports Illustarted was asked that question Friday during his appearance on “Brock and Salk.” While his response didn’t mention the Seahawks by name, it described what Seattle is built do do.
“It’s going to take a team that can run the ball on San Francisco and a team that can possess the ball against San Francisco, because I believe now that San Francisco has proven its defense is good enough that they can win a whole bunch of 17-13 games,” King said.
“So the way you beat them is you don’t turn it over, you get two or three long drives a game, you keep the ball away from their offense and you basically take advantage of the chances you have. I think you have to score 20 points to beat them.”
In the video below, Brock Huard and Mike Salk have more thoughts on how the Seahawks stack up against the 49ers.
