Former Seahawks running back Justin Forsett has agreed to terms with the Houston Texans, announcing the news on his Twitter account on Sunday.
Forsett, 26, spent four seasons with the Seahawks, the team that drafted him in the seventh round out of Cal in 2008. In mostly backup duty, Forsett carried 278 times for 1,287 yards and seven touchdowns.
His contract was up after last season, and with Marshawn Lynch entrenched as Seattle’s starter, Leon Washington under contract for three more years and the addition of Robert Turbin in the fourth round, the Seahawks didn’t have a need — or a spot — for Forsett.
Forsett had a workout with the Texans last week. In Houston, he will compete with undrafted rookies Davin Meggett and Jonathan Grimes to be the team’s third running back behind Pro Bowler Arian Foster and Ben Tate.
