The significance of Unger’s new deal with the Seahawks

Max Unger thinks his new deal with the Seahawks is a reflection of how well he fits in offensive line coach Tom Cable’s system and how well that unit came together in the second half of last season.

He didn’t forget about the guy they were all blocking for, either.

“I think Marshawn had a little bit to do with that,” he told “Brock and Salk” on Thursday.

Unger is the latest key member of Seattle’s offensive line to get a new contract after signing a multi-year extension that the team announced Wednesday. Breno Giacomini and Paul McQuistan signed two-year deals earlier this offseason, while Russell Okung, John Moffitt and James Carpenter all have several years left on their rookie contracts.

Lynch, who led the league in rushing over the final nine weeks of the season, was also rewarded with a new deal.

“We did a couple things right and I think [the Seahawks] obviously realized that,” Unger said. “And that’s why it’s come together like this.”

In Thursday’s Wrap Up video, Brock Huard and Mike Salk share their thoughts on Unger’s extension.
