Seahawks notes: Another strong day for Owens

Terrell Owens trotted onto the practice field this morning wearing long blue spandex tights. No. 10 had another productive day catching the football. Late in the 11-on-11 drills, T.O. out-jumped Marcus Trufant and Jeron Johnson, tipped the ball to himself and tip-toed the boundary for a touchdown.
Braylon Edwards got deep several times, and drew lots of oohs and aahs from the fans when he hauled in a long sideline pass from Russell Wilson. The rookie quarterback has surprising and impressive arm strength, and showed it off on a few other deep completions, including one to Ben Obomanu.
Dropped passes did not help the cause of Kris Durham or Charly Martin. Former Husky Jermaine Kearse had a Matt Flynn pass hit him in the back when he didn’t recognize a “hot read” and cut his route short.
On defense, Bruce Irvin had one of his best practices. Time and again he and University of Idaho alum Korey Toomer blitzed and got to the quarterback. Defensive coordinator Gus Bradley told me after practice he is extremely excited to put in special plays for Irvin and the other defensive end, Chris Clemens.
Starting guard John Moffitt sustained a left arm injury during drills and left practice.
Not wearing pads today because of injuries were receivers Doug Baldwin and Ricardo Lockette, tight end Cameron Morrah, defensive tackle Alan Branch and linebacker Matt McCoy.
Talk about a gentle giant. The 6-foot-4, 338-pound Deuce Lutui showed us a soft side when he yanked off his helmet, walked over to the sideline and gave his wife a smooch. The big man was not expecting her to be at camp by today’s session. They both greeted Deuce’s coach at USC, Pete Carroll.
Friday’s practice is closed to the public so the coaches can install final plays for Saturday night’s preseason opener against the Titans
