The Seahawks got some encouraging news in the bright sunshine and 82-degree temperatures at practice Thursday afternoon: Marshawn Lynch was a limited participant.
The team’s leading runner missed the last two preseason games with back spasms. We won’t get a clear idea whether Lynch will play against Arizona in the regular-season opener until later in the week.
There was a new name on the injury report. Back up quarterback Matt Flynn was limited with right elbow soreness. Flynn missed the third preseason game with the same ailment.
Offensive lineman James Carpenter was also limited in practice as he continues to make his way back from a knee injury.
Defensive end Greg Scruggs (hamstring), receiver Golden Tate (knee) and cornerback Byron Maxwell (shoulder) did not participate in practice. Coach Pete Carroll had hoped Tate would be able to do some running in practice this week.
The Seahawks changed their practice squad with the addition of tight end Gabe Miller and offensive lineman Tommie Draheim. Miller was with Kansas City, Draheim at Green Bay.
Dropped from the practice squad linebacker Allen Bradford and lineman Edawn Coughman.
Friday the Seahawks have a full practice planned, then Saturday head to Glendale, Ariz. for Sunday’s first regular season game, which you can hear on both 710 ESPN Seattle and 97.3 KIRO FM.
