The Seahawks have placed veteran receiver Ben Obomanu on season-ending injured reserve and promoted former Washington Husky Jermaine Kearse from the practice squad.
The Seahawks announced the moves Tuesday. They also released cornerback Danny Gorrer and promoted tackle Mike Person from the practice squad. Wide receiver Phil Bates has been signed to the practice squad. Bates and Kearse were both undrafted rookie free agents who signed with the Seahawks.
Obomanu sustained a wrist injury during the Seahawks’ loss to Detroit on Sunday and saw a specialist on Monday. Losing Obomanu hurts Seattle’s depth at receiver but also on special teams, where he was a key contributor.
Fellow receivers Braylon Edwards (knee) and Doug Baldwin (ankle) are also banged up, so the Seahawks may not be done making moves. Neither played against Detroit, and coach Pete Carroll said he wasn’t sure about their availability for Sunday’s game against Minnesota.
