Seahawks’ Wright, Carpenter miss practice again

The Seahawks’ Thursday practice looked more like a MASH unit. Eight players did not participate in the drills due to injuries or illness.

Cornerback Richard Sherman was the newest name on the list due to sickness. Running back Marshawn Lynch continued to rest his back, defensive end Red Bryant has a sore foot, defensive tackle Clinton McDonald a groin issue and safety Kam Chancellor a quad injury.

Of greater concern are the concussions to linebacker K.J. Wright and guard James Carpenter. Neither has passed the necessary tests to practice yet.

John Moffitt continues to prepare to start at left guard if Carpenter can’t make it back for Sunday’s game against the Jets. Second-year man Mike Morgan gets the bulk of the work at outside linebacker.

Receiver Braylon Edwards was limited in practice as he returns from a swollen knee. Defensive tackle Jason Jones (ankle sprain) also did some limited work.

Defensive coordinator Gus Bradley spoke with the media at length about the unique and multiple ways the Jets will use Tim Tebow in their offense. Bradley said Tebow sometimes lines up at quarterback, other times as running back or tight end.

Being “gap-sound” will be critical for Seattle’s defense to prevent Tebow from executing explosive plays like he did in Denver last year, according to Bradley.

Bradley noted defenses which have turned up the pressure on Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez have forced him to throw completions, and lately more interceptions.

Bradley doesn’t believe the Jets will use too many gadget plays even though they’re coming off a bye week and had an extra day or two to prepare.
