Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice practiced Wednesday after successfully clearing concussion testing.

Rice sustained a blow to his head Sunday after scoring the game-winning touchdown against the Bears in overtime. On Monday, coach Pete Carroll, uncertain of Rice’s diagnosis, said Rice would be completing the concussion protocol to be on the safe side. Rice suffered two concussions last season, the second one landing him on the injured reserve.

Limited on Wednesday in his first day back, Rice is expected to be a full participant in practice on Thursday.

Defensive end Red Bryant did not practice Wednesday, still dealing with a plantar fascia issue in his foot. Bryant, limited throughout last week and listed as doubtful to play against Chicago, was active on game day.

Cornerback Marcus Trufant, inactive on Sunday, was sidelined Wednesday as well with a hamstring injury.

“Marcus Trufant is still rehabbing. I’m not sure what his return will be yet,” Carroll said. “We’ll find that out at the end of the week.”

Running back Marshawn Lynch (back) and linebacker Leroy Hill (ankle) were also limited on Wednesday.

Notes

Cornerback Brandon Browner’s four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs begins immediately. Browner is eligible to return after the final game of the season and in time for the playoffs should the Seahawks qualify.

To fill the two open spots on the active roster, the Seahawks signed cornerback Ron Parker from the Panthers’ practice squad and promoted DeShawn Shead. Running back Derrick Coleman was then added to the practice squad, where only one roster spot remains available.

Quarterback Russell Wilson was named the NFC Player of the Week for his performance against Chicago. He is the first Seahawk to be awarded that honor since running back Shaun Alexander in 2005. Wilson was also nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the Week.
