The Seahawks may need to find some room on their roster for a pair of players currently on injured reserve in time for Sunday’s game at Washington.

Both tight end Greg Olsen and cornerback Quinton Dunbar are in the mix to play Sunday, Seattle’s head coach said during his weekly Pete Carroll Show on KIRO Radio 97.3 FM.
“Both those guys have a chance and they’ve positioned themselves where we’ve gotta figure it out here all the way up (to Sunday),” Carroll said in an interview with Dave Wyman that aired Friday on Seattle’s Morning News.
Olsen and Dunbar, two of the Seahawks’ most notable additions last offseason, have each been practicing after being designated for return from injured reserve in recent weeks.
The recovery of the 35-year-old Olsen from a ruptured plantar fascia in his foot has turned heads. It’s an injury he’s recovered from before, albeit on his opposite foot, and if he plays Sunday it would be just a month since he suffered an injury that is known to keep players sidelined for twice as long.
“I’m really fired up about Greg’s recovery,” Carroll said. “(It) was just remarkable that he came back so fast and he did so well in returning, so we’ll see how that goes.”

Dunbar, 28, may return from a knee injury just in time to play against his former team. Washington traded him to Seattle in March for a fifth-round pick. He last played in Week 9 against Buffalo, when he toughed out the knee injury but was noticeably slowed by it. Dunbar has missed seven games total this season, including each of the past five.
In order for Olsen or Dunbar to play Sunday, Seattle would need to open up a spot for each of them on its roster.
Carroll had one more injury update Friday, relaying that the Seahawks’ offensive line may without starting right tackle Brandon Shell for the third time in four games. Shell returned from a high ankle sprain to play last week against his former team, the New York Jets, but he had to leave the game after re-injuring the ankle.
“He has not been able to practice yet. We’ll see all the way to game time,” Carroll said.
