Justin Smoak is putting together a strong September as he tries to end another miserable season on a high note.
Entering Wednesday’s game, the Mariners first baseman is hitting .341 with two home runs and five RBIs in 13 games this month. He’s raised his season average to .204 after ending August at .190, and his on-base and slugging percentages, while still paltry, have increased during September as well.
Smoak’s strong month was a topic of conversation when M’s broadcaster Mike Blowers joined “Bob and Groz” for his weekly conversation on Wednesday.
In the video below, Bob Stelton and Dave Grosby discuss whether Smoak’s finish to 2012 will impact his standing with the team heading into next season.
