The Seahawks drafted Bruce Irvin with the thought that he would serve as a situational pass rusher while preparing to eventually replace Chris Clemons as the “leo” defensive end.

Irvin was thrust into that role earlier than expected when Clemons suffered a torn ACL in the playoffs. Irvin’s performance in the divisional-round loss to Atlanta raised questions about his readiness for an every-down role, one he may need to assume next season depending on Clemons’ recovery.

That is if the Seahawks feel comfortable enough with Irvin’s development.

In the video below, Brock Huard and Mike Salk explain that the Seahawks’ offseason approach will depend largely on their confidence in Irvin.
