The acquisition of wide receiver Percy Harvin gives the Seahawks a dangerous kick returner and adds an explosive weapon to an offense that became increasingly dangerous last season.

“He’s a dynamic player, he’s a playmaker,” Pete Bercich, a color commentator on the Vikings radio broadcast, told “Bob and Groz” on Monday. “He’s a guy that you can throw a swing pass to or hand the ball off to and he can make plays. He’s very versatile, which is a rarity in these days. And he’s one of the best kickoff return guys in the league, if not the best right now.”

It comes at a cost, however.

Along with the haul of draft picks the Seahawks are sending to Minnesota, they’re reportedly finalizing what is presumably a lucrative long-term deal. The financial commitment the Seahawks are making to Harvin might compel them to make some subtractions elsewhere, particularly players whom Harvin could make expendable.

Reserve wide receiver/special teamer Ben Obomanu and kick returner Leon Washington have salary-cap figures north of $2.4 million in 2013.

In the video below, Bob Stelton and Damon Huard discuss what Harvin’s addition means for the Seahawks’ offense and some of the financial implications it comes with.

Update: The Seahawks are shopping Washington, according to a tweet from Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.
