A nationally-televised game against the Packers at Lambeau Field and a meeting with Matt Flynn’s Raiders highlight the Seahawks’ 2013 preseason schedule.

The NFL announced preseason schedules for all 32 teams Thursday.

The Seahawks will open on the road against the Chargers before coming home to host the Broncos. CBS will air the game against the Packers the following week, and the Seahawks will again close out the preseason against the Raiders in Seattle.

A few thoughts on each game:

Familiar place, face. This will be the fourth time in seven years that Seattle opens the preseason against the Chargers in San Diego. By the way, former Seahawk Charlie Whitehurst is the Chargers’ backup quarterback. Expect to see plenty of him in that game, assuming he’s still with the team at that point.

Test for DBs. The Broncos have a future Hall of Fame quarterback in Peyton Manning and arguably the NFL’s best trio of wide receivers in Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker and free-agent addition Wes Welker. Sure, it’s preseason, but that should make for an interesting matchup with Seattle’s cornerbacks, especially if the Seahawks use an early pick on a nickelback.

‘Fail Mary’ revisited. Expect incessant mention of the controversial touchdown pass that gave the Seahawks a win over the Packers on “Monday Night Football” in Week 3. If only this game mattered. The third preseason game is usually when the starters see the most action, so expect to get a long look at quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who could be the highest-paid player in league history by then. This game is scheduled for Aug. 23, a Friday. Exact dates for the other three games will be announced later.

Welcome back. The Seahawks will close out the preseason at home against the Raiders for the seventh time in the last eight years (in case you’re wondering, the close proximity has a lot to do with that). Starters usually don’t play much – if at all – in the preseason finale. Flynn might, though, if the Raiders decide to get him as much work as possible as he prepares for his first regular season as a starter (assuming he will be the starter).

As always, 710 ESPN Seattle will carry the games.
