Seventh round (No. 220): G Ryan Seymour, Vanderbilt

By Danny O’Neil

The rationale: A lineman who is as versatile as he is experienced, Seymour started 35 games in his college career. He took snaps at guard, center and offensive tackle as a senior. He started at left tackle as a junior and left guard as a senior.

The Ryan Seymour file

Position: Offensive lineman
School: Vanderbilt
Height/Weight: 6-5, 300 lbs.
Drafted: Round 7, 220 overall
Notable: Made the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2011 and 2012.

At 6 feet 5, 300 pounds it will be interesting to see where Tom Cable, Seattle’s offensive line coach, plans to play Seymour.

The risk: Guard is the deepest spot on Seattle’s offensive line with James Carpenter, John Moffitt, Paul McQuistan and J.R. Sweezy all started at the position last year.

Offensive tackle is the spot where Seattle’s depth is a question mark. Frank Omiyale has not been re-signed, meaning that Mike Person is the primary backup behind starters Russell Okung and James Carpenter.
