James Carpenter and Bruce Irvin, the Seahawks’ most recent first-round picks, are two of the team’s biggest wild cards heading into the 2013 season.
The Seahawks are hopeful that Carpenter can recover in time from offseason knee surgery to provide a mauling presence at left guard. Staying healthy is another issue, no guarantee considering Carpenter’s first two seasons have been cut short because of injuries to the same knee.
Seattle is experimenting with Irvin at outside linebacker and hoping he can improve upon his eight sacks from last season, a total that led all rookies. The four-game suspension he will serve to begin the season complicates matters.
With that in mind, a listener posed this question to “Brock and Danny” before Wednesday’s show: Would improved play from Carpenter or Irvin help the Seahawks more in 2013?
Brock Huard and Danny O’Neil debate that question in the video below.
