Seattle’s depth at cornerback earned praise in training camp.
That depth may be tested as soon as Sunday.
Cornerback Brandon Browner will be a game-time decision, according to coach Pete Carroll. Browner had not been injured at any point in the preseason, but was limited on Wednesday by a hamstring injury and did not practice Thursday. He’s listed as questionable.
Defensive end Cliff Avril is also a game-time decision, Carroll said. Avril did not play in any of Seattle’s preseason games because of a hamstring injury and only began practicing on Thursday. When discussing Avril’s status on Friday morning on KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, Carroll said Avril and defensive end Chris Clemons were on the verge of coming back. Carroll previously said Clemons was not a candidate to play. Avril is listed as doubtful.
The news was good up front as defensive tackles Brandon Mebane and Tony McDaniel continued to practice and are expected to not only play Sunday, but likely will start.
