It wasn’t the defining play of the Seahawks’ Week 1 win over Carolina, nor was it the most memorable.
But as Brock Huard explains in this season’s debut edition of “Chalk Talk”, the 18-yard completion from Russell Wilson to Golden Tate on Seattle’s game-icing drive was an example of putting the right player in a good position to make a big play.
The situation: Seattle was facing a second-and-8 from its own 30, trying to run out the final 4 minutes of the game to preserve a 12-7 win.
The result: An 18-yard completion that featured three broken tackles, moved the chains and kept the clock running.
Huard takes it from there, explaining in the video below how the play unfolded and why it worked.
