The Seahawks head to Houston with a center and right tackle who aren’t question marks so much as doubts.
Max Unger and Breno Giacomini weren’t ruled out of Sunday’s game, but they are listed as doubtful, which equates to a 25-percent chance of being available for normal duty. Both will travel to Houston, each getting evaluated on game day to see if they are ready.

And if they’re not, the reserves are ready: Lemuel Jeanpierre at center and rookie Michael Bowie at right tackle.
“Our guys are ready to play ball if they’re called on to do so,” coach Pete Carroll said. “It won’t be the story about the guys who aren’t playing, it will be about those guys stepping up and doing their thing.”
Unger has started 29 consecutive regular-season games at center, but he suffered the injury in last week’s game against Jacksonville. Though he finished the game against the Jags, the Seahawks have limited him this week.
“He’s got a triceps injury that we’re trying to get through,” coach Pete Carroll said, “really protect him and make sure we’ll making all the right choices so we held him out all week and we’ll see where he is on game day.”
If he’s unable to play, Jeanpierre will step in. He started five games in 2011, including one at center.
Giacomini has not practiced this week because of a knee injury, which he suffered on Sunday against Jacksonville. Bowie will step in for Giacomini, whose knee was a concern even in the offseason when he traveled to New York to have more tests done.
While Giacomini and Unger are questionable, three Seahawks have been ruled out for the game: S Jeron Johnson (hamstring), RB Spencer Ware (ankle) and DT Jordan Hill (biceps). Hill practiced for the first time in a month this week, and could be ready to return at Indianapolis in Week 5.
Seattle had two players leave last week’s game with injuries who should be ready to go. Defensive end Red Bryant (back spasms) and wide receiver Jermaine Kearse (ankle) are probable for Sunday’s game, which equates to a virtual certainty they’ll be available to play.
