Seahawks right tackle Breno Giacomini underwent arthroscopic surgery to clean up loose bodies in his knee Monday morning, coach Pete Carroll tells 710 ESPN Seattle.

“He had very good results,” Carroll said during his appearance on “Brock and Danny” on Monday. “He had some stuff in his knee that was causing him some problems that they cleaned up, and he could make a very quick recovery on that one.”

Giacomini left Seattle’s Week 3 win over Jacksonville early after a pre-existing knee injury worsened. He was inactive during Sunday’s overtime win over Houston, with rookie Michael Bowie starting in his absence.

While Carroll didn’t offer a specific timetable for Giacomini’s return, he sounded optimistic that Seattle’s right tackle could make a speedy recovery.

“He did not have a lot of damage other than that, so that’s really encouraging because they clean that stuff out and it’s just like it wasn’t there,” Carroll said. “So we’ll hopefully get him back quickly.”

Carroll said he didn’t know the prognosis for defensive lineman Michael Bennett, who sustained a strained back muscle in Sunday’s game. Bennett was injured during a scary collision in which his neck bent back at a severe angle. He was carried off the field on a stretcher and taken to the hospital, but returned to Reliant Stadium and was in the locker room after the game.

“Everybody was fired up to see him OK because that was a frightening moment when that happens,” Carroll said. “But I don’t know what the extent of it is yet.”
