Seahawks notebook: Harvin won’t practice; Okung OK

RENTON – There might be a speedy antidote to Seattle’s recent offensive struggles, but it won’t be Percy Harvin.
At least not this week.
Coach Pete Carroll said Harvin won’t practice this week as he continues to rehabilitate from hip surgery. Harvin has missed the last four games because of soreness he experienced in his surgically repaired hip after making his regular-season debut for the Seahawks on Nov. 17.
“We’re looking to take care of him and we need to get him right,” Carroll said. “He had major surgery, and he tried with everything he could to get back and he hasn’t been able to get that done.”
Okung OK
Left tackle Russell Okung is expected to play this week despite leaving Sunday’s game for two plays because of pain in the toe which he injured in Game 2 this season. Carroll indicated Okung may be limited in practice early this week, but should be available for the game so long as he can managed the pain.
“It’s just part of what he’s dealing with right now,” Carroll said.
Early rising
No time for sleep is a motto that quarterback Russell Wilson has adopted.
No way to sleep is the reality Wilson experienced after Monday’s loss.
“He beat me in here,” Carroll said Monday.
That wasn’t easy. Carroll arrived at Seahawks headquarters at 4:45 a.m.
“He couldn’t sleep,” Carroll said. “And I couldn’t sleep. So we found ourselves sitting in a room watching film together real early this morning.”
That amounted to continuing a conversation that started after the game.
“We were texting last night,” Carroll said, referring to the game, “just talking about the situations and the stuff that came up so we could focus well.”
Wilson passed for 108 yards against the Cardinals, his fewest in any game as a pro.
“He was real frustrated about it,” Carroll said. “He knew he could play better and knew he could do more stuff and wanted to get that win as much as anybody.”
Notes
• WR Jermaine Kearse was noticeably slowed by a sore ankle at points of Sunday’s game, but Carroll said he was responding well to treatment on Monday, which speaks well for his availability this week.
• RG J.R. Sweezy missed Sunday’s game because of a concussion, and while Carroll said it’s too soon to know his status this week, there were encouraging signs on his recovery. Also, rookie Michael Bowie played well in Sweezy’s place.
