Seattle’s secondary is well-represented among this year’s All-Pro selections.

Cornerback Richard Sherman, free safety Earl Thomas and strong safety Kam Chancellor were all chosen for the Associated Press NFL All-Pro team, which was announced Friday. Sherman and Thomas were among the 27 players on the first team, while Chancellor was a second-team selection.

Seattle rode arguably the league’s best defense to a 13-3 record and the top seed in the NFC. The Seahawks allowed the fewest yards (273.6) and points (14.4) per game, and their 28 interceptions were most in the NFL.

“It is very special, especially in a special season,” Sherman said, according to the AP. “If you’re having a special season and your team has four wins or five wins, I’m sure it doesn’t feel as good. But when your team is winning, your defense is No. 1 in every category and you’re just contributing, you’re not even trying to do anything special individually, you’re just contributing to the entire group. It really feels special. And with the chance to do what we have a chance to do this year, it would be fantastic.”

The selections are determined by 50 voters who regularly cover the NFL. Sherman, the NFL’s leader in interceptions with eight, drew 48 votes, as did Eagles running back LeSean McCoy. Only Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (50), Saints tight end Jimmy Graham (49) and Colts outside linebacker Robert Mathis (49) received more.

Sherman and Thomas were both first-team All-Pro selections last season.
