Lost in aftermath of Richard Sherman’s postgame outburt was the brilliance and significance of the play the cornerback had made minutes earlier, deflecting a pass that was caught by teammate Malcolm Smith to seal the win that punched the Seahawks’ ticket to the Super Bowl.
The moment wasn’t lost on Steve Raible or Warren Moon, whose call of the play on 710 ESPN Seattle was memorable in its own right. Right after Sherman’s tip landed in Smith’s hands, Moon let out a shriek that cut through Raible’s play-by-play. It was a moment of unbridled excitement, even if it sounded like terror.
“It wasn’t one of my finest moments,” Moon said with a laugh when he joined 710 ESPN Seattle’s “Wyman, Mike and Moore” on Monday.
