Scratch Henry Melton’s name off the list of free-agent defensive linemen who could give Seattle’s pass rush a boost.
Melton, who visited with the Seahawks last week, indicated via Twitter Tuesday afternoon that he’s signing with the Cowboys. The former Bears defensive tackle had also met with Minnesota and St. Louis.
The Seahawks’ interest in Melton was understandable considering they had lost three defensive linemen from their Super Bowl roster after releasing starting ends Chris Clemons and Red Bryant and watching backup nose tackle Clinton McDonald sign with Tampa Bay.
Seattle has been linked to defensive end Jared Allen, who remains unsigned.
