The deal is not done yet with Jared Allen, who will reportedly consider Seattle’s offer and others before making a decision.
A deal appeared imminent earlier Thursday with ESPN’s Ed Werder reporting that the Seahawks and the free-agent defensive end were putting the finishing touches on a contract. Werder’s report stated that Allen could sign a contract as early as Thursday barring an unforeseen snag.
Not so fast.
Allen left Seattle without a deal after having what his agent, Ken Harris, described to multiple reporters as “good discussions”. Harris said Seattle’s offer isn’t the only one Allen will consider before making his decision this weekend. Dallas is the only other team Allen is known to have visited during free agency.
While Allen signing with the Seahawks isn’t the foregone conclusion it appeared to be, the fact that he made a rare second trip to Seattle is a sign that it’s still a good possibility.
