After losing three members in free agency, Seattle’s secondary has made an addition.

The Seahawks have signed free-agent cornerback Phillip Adams to a one-year deal, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Adams spent part of the 2011 season with Seattle, appearing in one game.

Adams, 25, adds depth to a defense that has lost cornerbacks Brandon Browner and Walter Thurmond. He also gives Seattle a candidate to return punts now that Golden Tate has moved on, having done so for Oakland the past two seasons.

A seventh-round pick by San Francisco in 2010, Adams spent his rookie season with the 49ers, played for both Seattle and New England in 2011 and then made four starts over the previous two seasons with Oakland. Listed at 6 feet tall and 193 pounds, he fits the specs that the Seahawks typically look for in their cornerbacks.

Adams is the Seahawks’ third addition in free agency.
