All quiet on the DeSean Jackson-Seahawks front

When the Eagles released DeSean Jackson on Friday, the Seahawks were among the teams analysts pointed to as a potential landing spot for the free-agent wide receiver. Three days later, that initial speculation is the only thing linking the two sides.

Jackson is reportedly meeting with Washington on Monday, the only visit he is known at this point to have scheduled.

Chris Russell of ESPN 980 in Washington, D.C. reported Monday that Jackson is looking for a contract that will average $9 million to $10 million per season, which is similar to what he was making under his old deal with Philadelphia. True or not, that would seemingly be out of the Seahawks’ price range given what they’ve already committed to receiver Percy Harvin and the money they’ll need for the big-budget extensions that are believed to be looming.

Ed Werder of ESPN reported Monday that “two teams not identified publicly as having interest in DeSean Jackson are in deep negotiations” with the receiver. That description would ostensibly mean the Seahawks aren’t one of those two teams given the initial reports linking them to Jackson.
