Draft analyst Dan Shonka from the scouting service Ourlads hasn’t wavered much in his projection for what the Seahawks will do with the 32nd overall pick.

“They need some help bad on that offensive line, and we’ve given them Xavier Su’a-Filo from UCLA. In fact, we’ve had him going to Seattle for probably three months now,” he told 710 ESPN Seattle’s “Bob and Groz” on Monday. “It’s the best of all worlds … it’s a need spot and he’s going to fit right in, a terrific football player and a potential Pro-Bowl guy.”

Su’a-Filo played both tackle and guard during his three seasons at UCLA, and Seattle has a vacancy at each position after losing Breno Giacomini and Paul McQuistan in free agency. James Carpenter, who projects as Seattle’s starting left guard, faces an uncertain future in Seattle now that the Seahawks have opted not to pick up his fifth-year option, making 2014 the final year of his rookie contract.

That all makes selecting Su’a-Filo with the 32nd pick a seemingly logical move. But as Bob Stelton and Dave Grosby discuss in the video above, maybe it’s too logical a move for a team that has been anything but predictable in the draft.
