Notes as Seahawks begin minicamp

RENTON – A few notes from Tuesday’s minicamp practice, the first of three the Seahawks will hold this week:

• Running back Marshawn Lynch was in attendance, talking with several teammates and coaches as he watched practice with the drawsterings of his hooded sweatshirt pulled tightly around his face. Coach Pete Carroll said Lynch has a sore ankle and likely won’t practice the next two days, either. Carroll said he would not comment on reports that Lynch is unhappy with his contract. • Defensive tackle Kevin Williams practiced a day after his signing with the team became official, Tuesday marking the first time in his 11-year career he’s worn a jersey other than that of the Vikings. Williams, who will turn 34 in August, being a part of Seattle’s deep defensive-line rotation as opposed to an every-down player wasn’t at all a deterrent. It was actually a plus. “I think it’s an awesome chance to get in and play a limited number of snaps and maximize the ability I have,” he said.

• Rookie wide receiver Paul Richardson was back in action after being held out of several organized team activities due to what Carroll called a banged-up shoulder.

• Second-year cornerback Tharold Simon made another eye-opening play as he broke up a deep ball with a perfectly-timed jump over the back of receiver Ricardo Lockette. Simon missed his rookie season in 2013 with foot injuries that cropped up over the offseason, so the Seahawks have been getting what amounts to their first look at the former fifth-round pick. They’ve been impressed with his ability to run with the team’s faster wide receivers at 6 feet 3 and 202 pounds, and this play was another example.

• The Seahawks will hold minicamp practices the next two days, Wednesday’s session beginning at 1:30 and Thursday’s at 11:30.
