Marshawn Lynch ends holdout, reports to Seahawks training camp

RENTON – Marshawn Lynch didn’t arrive via helicopter.

Not even a Lamborghini.

The mere fact of Lynch’s presence was enough to elicit a cheer from his teammates and a sigh of relief from Seattle.

Lynch reported after holding out for seven days without getting a new contract. Now, that doesn’t mean there won’t be financial concessions made to Lynch. It’s possible the team could guarantee some portion of his $5.5 million salary in 2015 or, more likely, a $500,000 incentive bonus if he were to rush for more than 1,500 yards this season.

Don’t expect the Seahawks to be pumping any new money into Lynch’s deal, but they also probably aren’t going to dock him for time missed, either. The team could choose to subject him to just over $400,000 in fines for his absence, but they don’t have to.

More than anything, Seattle has its leading rusher from the past four seasons back before he had missed so much as a preseason game. Quarterback Russell Wilson, for one, expects Lynch to pick up right where he left off.

“Marshawn’s one of those guys that just has a knack for playing football,” Wilson said. “He’s just a great football player all the time.”

Jesse Williams out

Defensive lineman Jesse Williams suffered a knee injury on Wednesday that likely will require surgery, according to Carroll.

“I don’t have all of the details for you right now,” Carroll said. “But he’s got a serious situation we have to take care.”

Williams, a fifth-round pick in 2013, spent all of last season on injured reserve because of a knee injury.

Notes

• WR Kevin Norwood is once again out with a sore foot. The team is trying out some different treatment options, and Carroll characterized it as a day-to-day situation.

• WR Paul Richardson missed his second consecutive practice with a sore shoulder, but Carroll made it sound like he will return soon.

• DL Cassius Marsh has a sore groin, and the team kept him out of practice in hopes it doesn’t get worse.

• DL Michael Bennett, WR Percy Harvin, WR Doug Baldwin and TE Zach Miller all got the day off, but Carroll indicated that’s more to keep them fresh as opposed to an injury concern. “We’re trying to keep guys in rotation so that we can keep them fresh,” Carroll said. “We don’t want to wear anybody down too far.”
